anyhow. I'm in Tempe, AZ, and it's 106 degrees outside. We're on tour with two of the best artists I've ever loved growing up. Chamberlain and Tim Barry. you come to these shows early, or you do yourself an injustice. I've never publicly written about opening bands on our tours, but the reason we pick them are because they are truly worth your time. Remember, you're new favorite band is one listen away.
I'd also like to personally and publicly thank two interviewers I sat with this week.
1. Miss Liz Trinnear from Much Music who was exceptionally well informed about us, as a band, and thoughtful in her line of questioning, without playing it safe. - Thank you Miss Trinnear.
2. Mr. Alan Cross - wonderful to speak to you always. very knowledgeable about music history
and an excellent insight.
Play for the Lovers...
listen to: "The Day I Tried To Live" - Soundgarden - Superunknown

My fav. SG song.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that you bring Mr. Barry to Germany with you. It would be a perfect night, every of his songs is outstanding!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the blog updated again. As a huge Springsteen fan I've listened to his stuff since I was a kid. So now I'm happy to listen to some other music as well (mainly you guys, but also many of the bands you're recommending). Welcome to Sweden in October.
ReplyDeleteHey Brian!!!!I hope see you in Brazil soon.
ReplyDeleteSouth America Rules!!!!!!!Soundgarden The Day I Tried to Leave.Glory Seattle Days.
Happy to see you're up and running on here again....I apologize, again, for criticizing your use of "a word" in a previous blog entry. Also sent you a message via twitter in regards to a previous interview topic - wave that freak flag high ;-) Looking forward to the Denver show this weekend. Thanks for your music, sincerity, and passion.
ReplyDeletethank you for the amazing tempe show! you guys sounded incredible. please come back someday!
ReplyDeleteRe the Jay Leno performance. Was I the only one who noticed the Hall and Oates 'Bigger Than Both of Us' shop display promo on top of the Vox amp. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog, sporadic as the updates may be :)
ReplyDeleteHope to one day see you in New Zealand
God Bless
martin
Both of your opening bands were worth more than our time last night in Denver. It's also cool to see when bands show love to the journalists who ask questions that provoke thoughts from an artist instead of the mundane questioning.
ReplyDeletePS: Thanks you guys for signing one of the set lists for me. <3
Cannot wait to see you guys tomorrow in chicago. One other plus is that my girlfriend was supposed to be moving for work to baltimore the day after the show, but now her work has changed things and she gets to stay here in chicago and get a promotion. Heck yes. Tomorrow will be a blast.

Suggestion: "Jersey Girl" at the Radio City Show in September. Waits, Springsteen, Gaslight trifecta.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick story that I am finally able to share:
ReplyDeleteAbout 5 miles to the north of where you played in Tempe, there is a memorial for a friend of mine who was struck and killed by a car. He was riding home from a final and was hit by a car while listening to his iPod. He was the first peer I have ever lost and it was a difficult time for me.
'59 Sound has been an album I have listen to every single day for the past year with out exaggeration. Once Chris passed, the title track held so much more weight with me. He was struck while listening to one of his favorite songs and at his memorial they played it up until the second it was found at at the scene. I honestly like to think that he did get to listen to his favorite song one last time.
I was so excited to see you play again in Arizona, that even when all of my friends bailed, I refused to miss the show and went solo. When those first few chords of '59 sound rung out, I was happy to be in a dark auditorium because I couldn't hold back. Being so close to where he died and witnessing the passion with my own eyes and ears was just too much and the tears flowed again.
Gaslights music has always blown me away with its depth, passion and heart. Now that one of them is woven into an event of my life, I just wanted to say thank you.
i'd love to hear your voice cover let it be, or have a little faith in me
