for today... I want to turn you on to the band Lightning Dust's song "Antonia Jane."
On itunes it's listed as "June" but it's not right, it's typing error.
Because I have felt close to home...
and Antonia Jane will rise again.
There's a fine line between mystery and just lying. When you mystify, you're illuding to the mystifee that there's something worth uncovering under the heavy shroud of smoke. If all you have is cobwebs and a basement full of jelly jars with the little screws in 'em, well, everybody has that, so don't invite me over anymore.
Not a bad one. Probably not going to make me stop listening to High Violet though.
ReplyDeleteHa, love that you posted this and ended up covering it today. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI would like to read the rest of your "sidewalk crying" post, sounds interesting. Looking for a hardcore band? Take a gander at Rats Eyes. Hardecore from S.D

ReplyDeletejust a note... deleted the old post because i want this to be about music, there's enough politics out there, here it's just gonna be music.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's great. Loved your cover, you really made the song justice. Hope to see you in Sweden soon!
ReplyDeletelistened to lightning dust for the first time in my buddie's car on the way home from seeing the killers in cape town last december. i really liked sam's town, reminds me of backseats a bit.
ReplyDeletesometimes politics and music can't be separated. it's hard to tell which is in a worse state though.
I know you're not gonna agree with me, but I was actually bummed when I looked up the original version of this song after I heard the cover. I thought yours was absolutely outstanding, and the original just doesn't live up to it. I guess it's just not my style. Loved your version though.
ReplyDeleteAntonia Jane will indeed rise again. I really loved this song, the lyrics touched me.
